Searching for something a bit more exhilarating than a round of mini-golf (which we still recommend) then here's a few things you might want to check out on Norfolk Island:
Fishing
While a relaxing pastime for some, for others fishing can be one of the most exhilarating experiences out there. We're not talking about the bait and wait method (even though on Norfolk there's never too much waiting) we're talking about the more extreme side of fishing – jigging for yellowtail kingfish and casting surface lures for big pelagics like yellowfin tuna. This is the kind of fishing that gets the blood really pumping, get in touch with the local charters and ask them specifically to do some jigging and surface lure casting and you'll find out pretty quick!
Phillip Island Trek
Trekking to the summit of Phillip Island has to be one of the most incredible activities going, we won't ruin it for you but let us tell you that the view once you reach the top is a rush like nothing you've ever experienced before! A must do for any adrenalin junkie while visiting the island, contact us to book.
Surfing
Local surf breaks produce some epic waves throughout the year. We've even had a steady stream of extreme surfers coming over to ride the storm swells on offshore breaks…but that's perhaps more adrenalin than most people can handle! There's some excellent fun to be had on the waves around Norfolk and if you talk to some friendly locals you might soon be paddling out to join them on a wave or two.
Mountain Biking
With so many hidden trails around Norfolk that lend themselves perfectly to some downhill mountain biking, there's enough trails to take you from the top of Mt Pitt all the way down to the waters edge! For more information on biking check out our previous article Tracks and Trails.
Rock Pools
There's a scattering of rock platforms around Norfolk with rope climbs and wooden ladders built to access these special spots that are an adrenalin rush in itself just to get down, plus once you get to the pools there's a few high ledges to jump from If you're game…we recommend Crystal Pools to start off with as it's freely accessible but if you meet a few locals be sure to ask them if they can show you some other cool spots!
